Reid Hoffman joins Mosaic as Advisory Partner

Reid Hoffman has joined Mosaic Ventures as Advisory Partner.

Reid needs little introduction. As an operator, he was an early exec at PayPal, co-founder and CEO of LinkedIn, and more recently co-founder of Manas AI. As an investor, he led the first commercial round into OpenAI, and has been a longtime venture investor at Greylock. Across all of these activities, there has been an enduring passion: working with outstanding founders to help them blitzscale.

Why Mosaic, why now

Mosaic invests exclusively in early-stage AI companies in Europe. We have designed our firm as a small partnership, unusually well connected in both Silicon Valley and Europe, and built on AI-native foundations to give us leverage.

Our relationship with Reid started over two decades ago, and deepened after we started out in venture in 2006. Since then, Reid has supported Mosaic as an LP, and co-invested with us in over a dozen companies – including as a direct investor / board member in several of Mosaic’s active portfolio.

Today, Reid shares our conviction that there has never been a better moment to build companies – and that Europe is producing an exceptional generation of founders. This makes it a natural moment to deepen our working relationship.

What the role means

In practical terms, the Advisory Partner role means three things:

Investing. Reid will spar with us on investment theses and help with specific investment decisions, as an addition to the partnership.

Company building. Our portfolio companies will benefit from Reid's network and counsel on scaling, as part of our Silicon Valley style approach to helping European founders win globally – especially in the US. 

Firm building. Mosaic is a boutique, partner-led firm, leveraged via AI. Reid will advise and work closely with us as entrepreneurs building our firm.

What it does not change

Reid remains a partner at Greylock, chairman of Village Global, and an investor in Mosaic.  Reid’s work as co-founder of Manas AI continues to intensify.  Reid’s other commitments continue unchanged; Mosaic's mandate – early-stage AI originating from Europe – is complementary to them.
