Mike Chalfen is a partner and co-founder at Mosaic Ventures, a European VC focused on early stage investing. As an experienced investor, he’s been immersed in tech since joining Apax Partners in 1996, where he led the investment in global category leader King.com, as well as eDreams (later Odigeo), QXL.com, and Suse Linux. After Apax, Mike joined Advent Venture Partners, and in parallel actively invested as an angel. During this time he invested in first institutional investment rounds at companies including Fizzback, Houzz, Illumio, Moogsoft, Seal Software and The Foundry. Toby Coppel is a co-founder and partner at Mosaic Ventures, a European venture capital firm focused on early stage investing. Toby has been investing and operating in Internet startups since 1996. He began his investment career at Allen & Company, before starting his first investment firm. He joined Yahoo!’s new management team in 2001 and spent 6 years as Yahoo!’s Chief Strategy Officer, leading over $5 billion of investments and acquisitions including $1 billion into Alibaba. Since then, both as an angel and alongside Richard Branson and Virgin, he has made investments including 3DRobotics, CreativeLive, Criteo, Hailo, Indiegogo, Pinterest, and Transferwise. Simon Levene is a co-founder and partner at Mosaic Ventures, a London-based venture capital firm focused on early stage investing. Simon has been operating and investing in Internet and software-related startups since 1996. He began his career in Silicon Valley co-founding @Home Network’s (later Excite@Home) international business. In 2001, he was recruited to Yahoo! and spent four years as VP Corp Dev. He joined Accel London as a partner in 2006 and led investments in Etsy, Knewton, Seeking Alpha, and MyHeritage. From 2010, both as an angel and with Index Ventures, he’s invested in Fotolia, ResearchGate, Number Four, Shapeways, Squarespace, and Appcard. Farooq Abbasi is an Assoc. Partner with Mosaic Ventures, a Silicon Valley-style venture firm based in London which invests in leading European and Israeli start-ups primarily at Series A.
He covers enterprise software with thematic focus on AI / enterprise data / analytics, digital health and financial technology. Farooq began his investment career in 2011 upon joining Sandbox Industries, the corporate fund manager of Blue Cross Blue Shield with $500m currently under management. He has since been a venture and growth investor on the West Coast and most recently investing in Europe over the past 3 years.
Farooq is also an active advisor / mentor to accelerators such as SeedCamp, Techstars, and Alchemist Accelerator as well as for Soham for Kids, a non-profit educational institution based in Mallapur, India. - Full Bio
