I’m Michael Odai, Chief Operating Officer of Mosaic Ventures. I’m responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the firm, be it finance, legal, administration, IR, HR or IT. I’m considered somewhat of a jack of all trades and mostly work behind the scenes!
I started my professional career as a corporate lawyer in New York City at Paul Hastings LLP. It was there - helping entrepreneurs execute upon their dreams - that I realized I was sitting on the wrong side of the table. While I enjoy the intellectual challenge of law, my true passion lies in building teams and businesses.
After leaving Paul Hastings, I worked with a number of start-ups in New York and Atlanta before eventually landing in Sydney, Australia, where I joined forces with Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group as General Counsel of Virgin Money Australia - a then nascent financial services company. Three years later, I moved to San Francisco to help found and launch Virgin Green Fund (VGF), a cleantech growth equity fund. At VGF, we built an international firm with offices in London and San Francisco and deployed over $200m in early- and growth-stage investments.
In 2014 I joined Mike, Simon and Toby (a former colleague at Virgin) to help launch Mosaic Ventures.
