I moved from New York in summer 2014 to join Mike, Toby and Simon in launching Mosaic Ventures.
I have been immersed in technology and startups since the 7th grade, when a family friend introduced me to programming and the dark arts of hacking. During high school I set up a computer repair business, interned at Thrillist in its infancy and spent vacation learning Java. After studying business at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a Masters in Computer and Information Technology at the university. I was then briefly a developer at a NYC-based startup, Host Committee (an event-planning platform), before joining Insight Venture Partners, the growth technology investment firm.
During my two years at Insight, I met unbelievably talented entrepreneurs while originating and leading due diligence efforts for 7 investments, including Vinted (Justas Janauskas), Truecaller (Alan Mamedi), Yext (Howard Lerman) and Frontline Technologies (Michael Blackstone and Roland Thompson). However, while Insight generally invests in companies with revenue maturity and momentum, my heart was earlier stage -- closer to the edge of innovation. I prefer the intellectual challenge of understanding product and market in depth, and of working with ambitious, often unproven entrepreneurs, without the comfort of voluminous metrics. To do so in an entrepreneurial, scrappy new venture firm is a dream come true.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring waterfalls and mountains in under-visited countries, biking everywhere I can, and rabidly cheering for New York sports teams. Now that I live in Europe, I’m constantly looking for new friends to practice Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew with, and I look forward to discovering opportunities for adventure sports across the region.
